Shiatsu
Pressure with hands, thumbs, palms and sometimes elbows, along meridians and the hara. Schools work different lineages: Masunaga extends channels; Namikoshi organizes tsubo and kata. No needle.
Acupressure
Sustained pressure on points, often the same WHO codes as acupuncture, without a shiatsu kata or hara assessment. It is a point gesture, not a full meridian session.
Acupuncture
Needle insertion at points, inside a training and a legal frame Meridiania does not grant. Here you study location, name, meridian and family. The needle is learned at school, not in the atlas.
What Meridiania does with all three
It publishes the map: 3D body, sheets, TCM channels, Masunaga and Namikoshi layers, study hara. It does not needle, prescribe pressure, or tell you which profession is yours. Each column below leads to its landing.

Questions
- Is a tsubo an acupuncture point?
- Sometimes it matches a WHO code and sometimes it belongs to the Namikoshi or Masunaga map. That is why Meridiania does not fuse them into one clinical sheet.
- Does this page teach needling or prescribing?
- No. It compares three ways of studying the same body territory. Professional practice stays with the school and its regulation.
