A search for “tsubo” usually wants the place pressed with the thumb. The Japanese word does not require that place to be a WHO code.
The word
Tsubo names a place of attention and pressure in Japanese shiatsu. On the Namikoshi chart it is a zone in the sequence. In Masunaga it may be a stretch of the extended meridian. In TCM the study equivalent is the numbered point, and it does not always fall in the same place.
How to look it up here
If you have a code (ST36, LI4), open the point sheet. If your school says Namikoshi tsubo, open that layer and do not write the code on top. The atlas search accepts both words.
At the study table
Say out loud which map you are using. Write the school’s name next to the place. Then the exam note does not mix three vocabularies on one line.

Questions
- Are tsubo and acupuncture point synonyms?
- In everyday speech, sometimes. In the atlas, no: the point has a WHO code and the tsubo names its school.
- Where is the Namikoshi layer?
- On the 3D body, by changing the meridian system, and in the Namikoshi tsubo family in the dictionary.
